Helix Speedster – reinventing the hole stock. The Helix of Merkel has set standards in terms of ergonomics and intuitive handling as a linear repeater with a translated shutter. Now the Suhl hunting rifle specialist is following up with a stock development that is tailor-made for the Helix system. The new SpeedStock is a plastic (hole stock) construction that breaks completely new ground for a hunting rifle. With the OmegaGrip, which is open at the top, this shaft concept combines two classic shaft principles into an ergonomic and fast new development. The OmegaGrip guides your hand and thumb when repeating - like on rails. The SpeedStock is used exclusively for the first time on the new Helix Speedster.

RELAXED SHOOTING POSITION
Like the perforated stock, the new SpeedStock allows relaxed shooting with a steep pistol grip and the trigger finger parallel to the barrel axis - both ensure a reproducible, relaxed attack and an optimal precision shot. The good ergonomics of classic hole stock designs for single shots only reveal their weaknesses when reloading: When repeating quickly, threading the thumb in and out of the stock hole is a hindrance. This problem is eliminated with the new SpeedStock. The thumb slides as if on rails along the ergonomic shape of the stock into the OmegaGrip in the firing position - and out again when repeating. The cocking slider can also be operated easily with the thumb using the open SpeedStock without having to twist the grip - another safety and ergonomic advantage of the new shaft.

HOLE STOCK WITH HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE CHECKER
Merkel has further optimized its hole shaft development. The automatically height-adjustable MemoryCheek piece, which ensures a reproducible stop on the cheek. A spring storage element with a memory function moves the back of the shaft smoothly and silently to the preset height at the push of a button.

GREAT AND INDIVIDUALLY ADJUSTABLE
The shaft is made from a high-tech plastic in a two-component process. Non-slip, rubberized areas are incorporated into the pistol grip, forend and back of the stock. The surface of the SpeedStock is grained for better grip. In addition, the shaft length can be easily and tool-free adjusted to suit the hunter and his clothing. This is what Merkel Recoil pad carriers in various lengths that can be easily replaced. The stock is screwed to the system from below via an eccentric-controlled body connector through the pistol grip. This elegant solution ensures that the gripping area is free of screw holes, which sometimes disrupts handling with conventional hole shafts. The push-button sling brackets used here are also practical: the securely locked rifle sling can be easily loosened at the shooting range, for example, and reattached just as easily later.
The stock geometry with a straight back of the stock at the level of the barrel axis transmits the recoil forces linearly to the shoulder; This reduces muzzle jump. The rigidity of the plastic construction, which was determined in laboratory tests, combined with a microcellular damper in the butt plate, absorbs defined recoil forces and makes shooting easier, even with powerful calibers.

SHOOTER SAFETY
Security is the good feeling of being able to hunt without any worries - because the rifle itself offers the best conditions for security. The helix lock is a further development of the classic rotating head lock - no other principle locks repeating rifles more securely. At the Merkel RX Helix combines the rotating head bolt with the helix principle to create a linear repeater. The closure is encapsulated at the back for additional security and to prevent contamination.

UNINTENDED SHOT FIRING
The hand tensioner of the RX Helix is located on the piston neck. He only puts the system under tension with the pressure of his thumb immediately before the shot - and it can be relaxed again just as easily.

SAFE FUNCTION
Manual tensioner systems sometimes suffer from an ignition energy deficit. A patented hammer system with a joint-driven hammer was developed for the RX Helix, which delivers maximum ignition energy: for a safe release of the shot.

LINEAR REPEATING
Repeating at the ready is the supreme discipline of quick follow-up shots. The RX Helix masters this discipline masterfully.
The Merkel RX Helix combines the rotating head lock with real linear repeating at the stop - without the slightest annoying turning or tilting movement as with other straight-pull repeating rifles. The eye remains on target, the bolt handle is exactly above the trigger. The straight shaft in the tradition of Merkel African rifles give this movement the necessary support.

TRANSLATED STRAIGHT
The linear movement of the bolt handle is transmitted to the bolt head in a ratio of 1:2. It moves smoothly and quietly into the lock in a special helix track system - and out again. The repeating path is translated: fastest repeating guaranteed. This benefits faster target acquisition and thus precise follow-up shots.

STAY ON TARGET
When repeating, the bolt does not move beyond the neck of the stock towards the shooter's eye, which disrupts aiming in conventional systems. With the helix system, the movement only takes place within the system housing. The eye remains undisturbed on the target. Now the second shot: Triggered by a finely adjustable direct trigger with a dry characteristic - that's real ergonomics.

TAKE DOWN
The RX Helix is the first rifle designed not just for hunting, but also for getting there. Merkel defines a new quality of take down. The magic word for dismantling a hunting weapon without tools is take down. With the Bolt Barrel System has Merkel The classic take down has been perfected and implemented in series for the first time in this class. This rifle can be dismantled to almost briefcase size in just three steps. Even those with little experience can do this in just a few seconds - and bring the RX.Helix to transport dimensions.

BOLT BARREL SYSTEM
The revolution is underway. The Bolt Barrel System is behind the perfected Merkel take down: Barrel, bolt head and system are connected by a coupling mechanism that can be released with a single lever - without tools.

DEFINITELY SAFE
The Bolt Barrel System is ideal for permanently securing the rifle. The bolt head is barely more than the size of a walnut and can be stored in your pocket - the rifle is thus safely protected against unauthorized use.

EASY TO CLEAN
Cleaning the barrel and bolt is also child's play thanks to the Bolt Barrel System: remove the barrel, unscrew the bolt head - all parts are easily accessible and easy to clean.

Assembly
Target optics can be attached very easily and inexpensively. The top of the locking sleeve is designed as a Weaver rail. The target optics can be removed and put back on in two easy steps without changing the point of impact. The eye relief can be varied (e.g. winter or summer clothing) by changing into one of the two rear cross-studs of the Weaver prism.
