At the IWA 2018 in Nuremberg, Haenel expanded its range of Competition Rifles (CR) with the newly introduced CR308. With the CR in caliber .308 Winchester, the Suhl-based company presents the "bigger and stronger brother" of the CR variant. The dimensions of the rifle have been adapted to the caliber, otherwise it corresponds in terms of function and handling to the Haenel CR gas-operated series. The universal caliber .308 Winchester promises high performance reserves combined with a universal and widespread cartridge. With this expansion of its product portfolio in the area of indirect gas pressure chargers, Haenel is addressing both the civil market and the official market.

Barrel lengths of 16.65" and 20" remain identical to those of the CR223. In terms of weight, the CR308 is in the normal average with values between 3.35 kg and 3.6 kg.
